Keith Lake Cut-Shoreline Protection

Project Description

Keith Lake Cut, which connects the Sabine-Neches Waterway on the east to the Keith Lake chain of lakes, has been widened and deepened by scouring action caused by vessel wakes, wake surges, wind driven waves, and tidal movement. This project was divided into two phases: shoreline protection (a) and marsh restoration (b) by installation of a water control structure. In Cycle 1, only the alternatives analysis was completed; no construction was performed. The project is now being considered for funding under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Continuing Authorities Program for environmental restoration. The alternatives analysis was completed in the summer of 2001.
