LIDAR Shoreline Change Update 2024

Project Description

This project provided funding to the University of Texas - Bureau of Economic Geology to fly LIDAR . This will benefit the GLO Coastal Programs by updating Texas Gulf and bay shoreline erosion rates; assessing hurricane impacts on beaches, dunes, bays, and rookeries as rapid-response efforts following major storm passage, identifying beach and bay hazards resulting from storm passage; determining the height and volumes of the Texas Gulf dune system to assess resistance to storm surge; and quantifying excavated volumes on state-owned land to enable GLO to verify operator reported production statistics.
