Lower Laguna Madre Hydrodynamic Characterization

Project Description

The County of Cameron (the County), in partnership with Research Applied Technology Education Services, Inc. (RATES), will 1) expand the River and Estuary Observation Network-Rio Grande Valley’s (REON-RGV) network of Real-Time-Hydrologic-Systems (RTHS) stations with six (6) additional stations to continuously measure tidal stage height, meteorological parameters, water velocity profiles, and water quality; and 2) conduct quarterly vessel-supported surveys (i.e., acoustic dopler current profiler (ADCP) surveys and spatially distributed vertical CTD casts) to determine the presence and distribution of density gradients as they relate to seasonality and variability in wind patterns and hydrologic inflow.
