Mesquite Point-Shoreline Protection

Project Description

Shoreline retreat threatened Walter Umphrey State Park in Jefferson County. The 1,400-foot shoreline is subject to vessel-generated waves from traffic on the Sabine Neches Waterway. The purpose of the project was to stabilize the shoreline from further retreat. A vinyl sheet-pile bulkhead was constructed due to the importance of protecting the recreational aspects of the waterfront at the park. The project was completed in the summer of 2001.
