Sand Resources Central Coast Study

Project Description

This project was a research effort of the University of Texas at Austin, Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) and Rice University. The goals included compiling lithologic data from the Central Texas inner continental shelf for the purpose of identifying potential sand source sites and providing public access to the data through publication on a Web site. Compilation of the Rice University data, with the addition of new cores in selected locations, will help future efforts to locate and evaluate potential beach nourishment sand source sites on the central Texas shelf.
