AUSTIN — Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the second amendment to the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) $57.8 million action plan for Hurricane Harvey has been posted for public comment. The amendment allows for new construction, in addition to rehabilitation and reconstruction, of multifamily affordable rental housing in Aransas, Nueces and Refugio counties. The total allocation for this program is $10,866,400.
"The GLO is moving forward as quickly as possible to help those displaced by Hurricane Harvey come back home to the Coastal Bend," said Commissioner Bush. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to expedite federal housing and infrastructure funds to help Texans recover and rebuild stronger."
The GLO is the state administrator for the $57.8 million in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program funds provided through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for long-term Hurricane Harvey housing recovery. Per HUD requirements, the amendment will be posted on the GLO's website for 14 days to afford citizens, affected local governments and other interested parties a reasonable opportunity to examine the amendment's contents and provide comment.
All comments should be submitted to cdr@glo.texas.gov by 5:00 p.m. on September 11, 2018, to be considered. The GLO will respond to public comments before the amendment is sent to HUD for final approval.
