AMARILLO — Tomorrow, February 14, the Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home will crown their annual Valentine's Day 'King and Queen' for Veterans residing in the home. This year, a very special couple have been selected to be crowned 'King and Queen.' 

It's not every day that two people celebrate 74 years of marriage. World War II Veteran, Mr. John Bremer and his wife Glenna Bremer will be crowned Valentine's 'King and Queen' in recognition of their extraordinary number of years together. A dance with refreshments will follow the crowning ceremony.

John Bremer's story has been featured by the Veterans Land Board "Voices of Veterans" program. The “Voices of Veterans” program seeks to record the stories of Texas Veterans through their time in service and after returning home from combat. The program archives these incredible stories in the Texas General Land Office for future researchers, historians, genealogists and the general public. Voices of Veterans ensures these stories of courage and service can inspire Texans for generations to come.
