GLO Accepting New Applications for Homeowner Assistance Program in Harris County
AUSTIN — Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is now accepting new applications for the Homeowner Assistance Program in Harris County. Harris County homeowners affected by Hurricane Harvey who are still in need of assistance to repair or rebuild their homes are encouraged to apply. The program provides repairs, rehabilitation, reconstruction, or other improvements so that the damaged home is more resilient against natural disasters, including elevating homes above flood level. The GLO announced previously it is taking new applications for city of Houston residents. Applications are now open for both Harris County and Houston residents.
"Hurricane Harvey damaged thousands of homes and devastated the livelihoods of countless Texans," said Commissioner Bush. "As the GLO takes on a more active role in the Houston and Harris County housing recovery, our focus is to spread the word that help is here for those who are still struggling to repair their homes and rebuild their lives."
Applicants who requested home repair or reconstruction assistance from the Harris County's Disaster Recovery program will be contacted by the GLO to complete outstanding paperwork needed to demonstrate eligibility and get approval under federal rules and requirements. Applicants who are currently working directly with Harris County staff on active applications will continue to do so through closeout. Applicants who applied for reimbursements for eligible home repairs should continue to contact Harris County's Disaster Recovery program on the status of their applications.
Homeowner Assistance Program applications can be submitted online, by email at email@example.com or by mail to Homeowner Assistance Program, 2100 Space Park Drive, Suite 104, Houston, TX 77058.
