McAllen — Today, Texas Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $535,135 for the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in McAllen. The grant money will be used to update the home’s existing HVAC system.
“As part of our mission to serve Texas Veterans with the highest standards of care, we are committed to advocating for federal funding opportunities that provide the critical resources required to modernize our facilities,” said VLB Chairman Bush. “The improvements made possible through this VA grant will benefit the current and future Veterans who call Alfredo Gonzalez their home.”The announcement letter can be found here. The Alfredo Gonzalez TSVH serves approximately 146 Veterans in the Rio Grande Valley area. The VLB operates nine total Veterans homes throughout Texas, and broke ground on its 10th home in summer 2021. More information on eligibility and locations of the Veterans homes can be found here.
