Veterans Land Board Announces TREC Continuing Education Course
AUSTIN — Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D. is pleased to announce the implementation of a one hour Texas Real Estate Commission-approved (TREC) Continuing Education course that counts towards a REALTOR’s required training.
The elective course, which will be taught by VLB Marketing and Outreach Staff, will be available online via Zoom and in-person and will cover VLB's home and land loan programs and common issues of which REALTORs should be aware.
"As Land Commissioner and Chairwoman of the VLB, our Veterans are the heartbeat of everything we stand for as a country," said Commissioner Buckingham. "Being able to provide Veterans with skilled REALTORs to answer their questions and make them aware of the benefits they've earned is vital to our mission at the VLB and General Land Office."
REALTORs who take this course will learn about the following and more:
- An overview of home and land loan programs available for Texas Veterans, military members, and eligible spouses,
- The fundamentals of VLB’s home loan program, including eligibility requirements, eligible property types, available loan options, understanding new construction and finding a lender,
- VLB's Land Loan Program, including minimum land size, maximum loan amount, minimum down payment and how the pre-qualification process works
- Common issues that may prolong the closing process of loans.
This course will provide a good foundation for REALTORs to better serve their Veteran and military clients when purchasing a home or land. For more information and if you are interested, please click the button below.
