After graduating from Valley View Rural High School, Thompson moved to Lubbock started roofing with Lideck Roofing Company in 1941 before deciding to join the Corps. Read More

Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D. is pleased to invite press to attend the VLB's War Monument Dedication Ceremony at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery (TSVC) at Abilene on Monday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. During this ceremony three new war monuments honoring all who served in WWII, Korea, and the Persian Gulf will be dedicated.The ceremony will include a Veteran from each war period, including World War II, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War.
