Join Us for an Opening Celebration of Fort Worth's New Texas State Veterans Home

On Friday, October 21st, 2022, the Fort Worth community is invited to join Texas Land Commissioner and Chairman of the Veterans Land Board George P. Bush for the soft opening of the new Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home. The opening ceremony will be held at 2200 Joe B. Rushing Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76119 at 10:30 a.m. The community is encouraged to attend. The new Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth is named after the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American combat flying support program in the United States Armed Forces. Today, Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush challenged Texans to show their utmost appreciation for World War II Veteran, Army Sgt. Archie Thomas, who turns 100 on July 13th. Sgt. Thomas—a resident of the Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in Tyler—has requested at least 100 cards for this momentous occasion.     Sgt. Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home Awarded $535,000 VA Grant

Today, Texas Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $535,135 for the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in McAllen. VLB Chairman Bush Announces $450,000 for Structural Improvements to Three Texas State Veteran Homes

Today, Veteran Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has awarded the VLB a grant totaling $453,335.50 to three Texas State Veterans Homes (TSVH). The grant money will be used to replace the roofing at the Ambrosio Guillen TSVH in El Paso and the Alfredo Gonzalez TSVH in McAllen. Veterans Land Board Earns Top Honors for Communications and Marketing Efforts

The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB), its marketing partner Proscalar, and supporting video production firm, 1820 Productions, have received international recognition for their digital marketing campaigns created to raise awareness for the benefits Texas Veterans have earned and may be eligible to receive. The VLB and Proscalar won five Platinum Awards for their submissions to the MarCom 2021 international competition—the highest mark bestowed by Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) is honored to announce the 2021 schedule for its annual holiday wreath-laying ceremonies for each of its four Veterans cemeteries. Army Air Forces Veteran Claudia Cantu Requests 100 Cards for her 100th Birthday

Today, Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush asked the community for help to ensure that World War II Army Air Forces Veteran Claudia Cantu receives at least 100 birthday cards in honor of her centennial birthday.  It’s not every day that a WWII Veteran turns 100 years old. Claudia was born in Uvalde, Texas on October 30, 1921 and served in the Army Air Forces from 1942 through 1945. To mark this momentous celebration, she has asked her community for birthday cards. VLB Partners with Nueces County to Manage Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Beginning this month, Nueces County assumed the day-to-day management of the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In 2019, the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) and Nueces County began talks on a potential partnership in which the County would serve as the primary entity responsible for maintenance and care of the cemetery. Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene to Receive $3.09 Million Expansion Grant

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) a grant of $3,092,700 to expand the cemetery and make improvements to the 31-acre burial grounds. Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that the Watkins-Logan State Veterans Home in Tyler has been awarded a grant totaling $1,589,503.50 through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
