Cmr. George P. Bush announces comment period for amendment to allow new construction using previously released Hurricane Harvey recovery funds

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the second amendment to the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) $57.8 million action plan for Hurricane Harvey has been posted for public comment. The amendment allows for new construction, in addition to rehabilitation and reconstruction, of multifamily affordable rental housing in Aransas, Nueces and Refugio counties. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued its guidance for the administration of an additional $652 million award to the state of Texas to help with the long-term recovery following Hurricane Harvey. The additional award brings the total award of Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to the state of Texas to $5.734 billion. Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved an amendment awarding $8 million in additional Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for a buyout program in Harris County for repeatedly flooded homes. The funds are being awarded to Harris County from HUD's first allocation $57.8 million in CDBG-DR funds after Hurricane Harvey.
