Piper Channel Feasibility Study and Alternatives Analysis Project

Project Description

The project will conduct preliminary design and modeling for shoreline stabilization methods along Piper Channel. Deliverables will include data collection, a feasibility study, and alternatives analysis. Potential solutions to be considered include but are not limited to: 1) stabilization of the tidal inlet through restoration and protection of tidal and marsh habitat, 2) shoreline stabilization / living shorelines, and 3) improvements to the channel dredging cross-sections to increase frequency between maintenance dredging, 4) bed-load sediment harvesting 5) beneficial use of dredge material to make a positive impact on the surrounding native habitats and increase cost-effectiveness to perform the work.
