This evening, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the public comment period for the coastal Texas Study has been extended for an additional 30 days, undeterred by the continuing government shutdown.
“I am pleased to announce that despite the government shutdown, the public comment period for the Coastal Texas Study has been extended,” said Commissioner Bush. “After a series of public meetings and listening sessions up and down the coast, it was clear that Texans' concerns must be heard. Feedback is critical to this process. A multitude of factors have prevented Texans from adequately voicing their comments and concerns on the draft proposal, including the holidays and the government shutdown. The Texas General Land Office remains committed to ensuring the voices of the people of Texas are heard. I will continue to advocate for a second public comment period in addition to the six guiding principles I have previously presented.”
