											Ernesto Martinez, a native of El Paso, served as a U.S. Army infantryman in the European theater of WWII. He saw action during the invasion into Germany. Upon leaving the Army at the conclusion of the war he became a noted painter and muralist and worked for the federal government as an artist. Many of his murals are still seen today in place like Ft. Bliss.
