Red Robinson was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941. He would go on to serve with the 35th Infantry Division and took part in the landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on D-Day. He left the service in 1945 upon the completion of the war. In 2014 he was honored during the pre-game ceremonies of the Armed Forces Bowl and was selected to conduct the coin toss.
