AUSTIN—Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that those who donate $50 or more to the Save Texas History program will receive both a signed letter and autographed copy of the Commissioner's new map, Alamo Defenders Heritage Map of Texas, which commemorates the brave Alamo Defenders who sacrificed their lives for freedom.
"What happened at the Alamo makes it not only a place of honor, but also where our story as Texas begins. The defenders who valiantly fought for Texas freedom should be proudly on display in every home across the Lone Star State," said Commissioner Buckingham. "For every donation of $50 or more to Save Texas History, you'll receive a signed map and letter from me as a thank you for your contribution to conserving documents and maps found in the archival collections at the General Land Office (GLO). Preserving these crucial pieces of Texas history will help educate Texans about our rich heritage for generations."

This unique map shows the approximate locations of the 245 land grants issued by the Republic and State of Texas to the heirs of the men who died at the Alamo to reward their service to the cause of Texas Independence. Its updated and comprehensive list of Alamo survivors and non-combatants honors those who witnessed the historic siege.
