SECOND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR COASTAL TEXAS STUDY BEGINS TODAY
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be hosting a second round of public meetings on the Coastal Texas Study to update the community regarding study changes and to hear community feedback on the Draft Proposal. Due to COVID-19, these meetings will be virtual. The revised Coastal Texas Study Draft Proposal is now available and is open for a 45-day public review and comment period beginning on October 30, 2020, and ending on December 14, 2020. TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE REMOVES DERELICT VESSELS FROM TEXAS COAST
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) Oil Spill team began significant efforts to remove derelict vessels along our state's coast.Passed by the 86th Legislature in 2019, Senate Bill 500 allocated $2 million to the GLO Oil Spill Prevention and Response Program to remove vessels located within counties receiving a Disaster Declaration as a result of Hurricane Harvey. CMR. BUSH ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF 2019 FALL CLEANUP
Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the results of the 2019 Fall Cleanup. “Preserving our environment and coastline is critical for the State of Texas,” said Commissioner George P. Bush. “Despite flooding on our coastline, 6,631 volunteers joined together and removed 106,141 pounds (53 tons) of trash from 130 miles of Texas beaches and bays. The incredible turnout from Texans across the state despite horrific flooding exemplifies our resiliency and dedication to ensuring our coast is preserved. Read More

UPCOMING ARANSAS COUNTY VESSEL TURN-IN PROGRAM
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with Aransas County and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Keep Aransas County Beautiful (KACB) to offer Aransas County Texans the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) free of charge.Designed to provide owners with a voluntary method of disposal, interested boat owners are encouraged to participate if the vessel is less than 26 feet long, with longer boats being accepted on a case by case basis. TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE ANNOUNCES CONTRACTOR FOR ROLLOVER PASS CLOSURE
Today, the Texas General Land Office announced the award of contract for the closure of Rollover Pass, Bolivar Peninsula to Brizo Construction, LLC. The notice to proceed will be issued on September 9th, 2019. Fencing is expected to be installed by the end of September. At this time, construction on the pass is expected to continue through April 2020.The closure of Rollover Pass was authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2009, under Senate Bill 2043. Rollover Pass is a man-made strait. Read More
