The Texas General Land Office is starting next year's budget from zero.Commissioner George P. Bush ordered all agency budget planners and managers to jettison "baseline budgeting" in the upcoming fiscal year. Chief Ranger statement in response to defacing incident, arrest at the Alamo
Today Chief of the Alamo Rangers, Mark Adkins, released the following statement in response to an incident of criminal vandalism resulting in an arrest at the Alamo:"On September 3, 2015, at approximately 4:40 p.m. an individual was observed by an Alamo Tour Guide inside the Alamo Church, in the room known as the Monks' Burial Room, desecrating the wall using a car key. An Alamo Tour Guide confronted the individual who attempted to flee the building, but was detained by Alamo Rangers until the San Antonio Police Department could arrive and take the individual into custody. Alamo Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit extended through May 31, 2015
SAN ANTONIO - Today Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush announced the wildly popular Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit has been extended through May 31st. Visitors have the opportunity to view firearms that helped settle the Texas frontier. This exciting exhibit contains historic firearms and artifacts on loan from the National Rifle Association and gracious Texas philanthropists such as Alamo Endowment Board member Red McCombs. VLB land loans
Texas veterans are now eligible for low-interest land loans up to $125,000 — the maximum allowed by law. Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush increased the land loan limit in his first act as chairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB). The previous land loan limit was $100,000. Phil Collins Delivers: Alamo relics returned to Texas
The fringed leather pouch David Crockett carried his musket balls in the day he fell at the Alamo probably started out its life in a Creek Indian village in Tennessee. Its trip to Texas with Crockett in 1836 was just the start of a journey that would eventually land it in Switzerland, in the home of British pop legend Phil Collins.Crockett's pouch returned to the Alamo shortly after 10 a.m. on Oct. 28, along with Collins and the rest of what is widely considered to be the biggest and best collection of Alamo artifacts ever assembled.
