Training
Great work deserves great support. We value and invest in our team's professional development. That’s why we developed a training program to help employees learn new skills and meet their career goals. Our training materials come in various formats and explore different topics, allowing you to broaden your skills.
We provide professional development through LinkedIn Learning, one of the GLO’s online educational platforms. It focuses on business and technology-related skills through expert-led courses.
Workplace Culture
At the GLO, we value differences and champion respect for each other at all levels of the agency. We also strive to create a healthy work-life balance for our team. That’s why we allow for flexible work schedules and remote work when we can. Additionally, our offices are designated as a mother-friendly workplace by the Texas Health Department. We support nursing mothers with flexible work schedules, private rooms, and storage facilities.
Equal Employment Opportunity and ADA
The GLO is committed to maintaining positive business and employment practices designed to ensure equal employment opportunities for all current employees and individuals seeking employment.
As an equal employment opportunity (EEO) employer, the GLO will conduct its staffing activities — selection, promotion, demotion, transfer, training, and separation — in accordance with established federal and state EEO laws and regulations.
The GLO will not discriminate against any applicant or employee based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, or pregnancy status.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), any requests for accommodation needed during the application process should be directed to the ADA Coordinator in Human Resources.
The General Land Office participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
Background Checks
If you’re selected for an interview, the hiring division will contact you to schedule one. Interviewed applicants will be required to undergo a background check through a third-party provider. A criminal conviction records check is required for applicants who are selected for a position.
