Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Receives VA Grant Completely Funding Expansion and Improvements
Today, Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairman George P. Bush released the following statement celebrating the Department of Veterans Affairs grant fully funding the Central Texas State Cemetery expansion and improvements project in Killeen. The VA has awarded the VLB a grant of $2,650,880 for 100 percent of allowable costs for the expansion of the cemetery."There is no service greater than that of a United States Military Veteran," said Chairman Bush. Tuesday, September 11th, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Private John Anthony Piercey, a United States Army Veteran.Private Piercey served in the Army from April 23rd, 1976, to March 14th, 1977.Coastal Bend Cemetery staff has coordinated with the cemetery's Honor Guard to ensure that Private Piercey will receive full military honors. Bush announced that the General Land Office's Veterans Land Board (VLB) is collaborating with Ranch Hand Rescue (RHR) Counseling Center and Animal Sanctuary to offer animal therapy for residents of the Clyde W.
