K-9 Veterans Day

On March 13th, the Texas Veterans Land Board will celebrateK-9 Veterans Day. We are excited to invite the community to join us at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home to partake in festivities. This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together with their K-9 and celebrate with our Veterans. Treats and refreshments will be provided for both guests and their fluffy companions. Texas State Veterans Home Visits Berkner High School Junior ROTC Group Service Learning Project

On February 15, 2019 the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home located in Bonham, Texas had the opportunity to attend the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps service learning project at Berkner High School.The Berkner High School Junior ROTC group invited our Veteran residents of Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home to enjoy a presentation of their service learning project. Unaccompanied Veteran burial to be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Today, Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced that on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Specialist Hugh Gary Bryan, a United States SP5 Army Veteran.Specialist Bryan is not expected to have anyone attend his funeral, as no next-of-kin could be contacted. VLB to host Texas Veterans Benefits Fair in Corpus Christi on March 16th

A free “come and go” benefits fair for Texas veterans will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Corpus Christi VA Outpatient Clinic. The fair, targeting all area veterans, military members and their families, is one of several held throughout the state in 2019. Officials from the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) will be on hand to provide information on state programs including land, home and home improvement loans, as well as Texas State Veterans Homes and Cemeteries for veterans and military members in Texas. 100th Birthday Celebration for Leola Shamburger

On Wednesday, February 6th, the Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home will host a 100th birthday party at 5:30pm for one of their residents, Mrs. Leola Shamburger.In 2013, Mrs. Shamburger moved into Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home after the passing of her husband, US Army Staff Sargent Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) and became a matriarch immediately. Bush announced that on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Joseph Walker, a United States Air Force Veteran. Today the Ussery Roan State Veterans Home located in Amarillo, Texas announced that they have received their latest piece of innovative technology - a Snoezelen machine for the benefit of their veterans. The Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home has been able to purchase a Snoezelen machine to assist residents in therapeutic relaxation.
