Vessel Turn-In Program to make waves in Calhoun County
AUSTIN - The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with Calhoun County officials and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to offer local coastal Texans the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP), free of charge. Designed to provide owners with a voluntary method of disposal, interested boat owners are encouraged to participate if the vessel is less than 26 feet long, with longer boats being accepted on a case by case basis. Artwork wins Round Rock Elementary 6th grader a Caribbean cruise
AUSTIN - Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is proud to announce the winners of the 2017 Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art Contest. The grand prize winner, selected from the 40 overall winners, was Debbie Bong, a 6th grader from Ridgeview Middle School in Round Rock. 6,700+ volunteers pick up 78+ tons of trash from 146 miles of Texas beaches
The results for Saturday's 31st annual Spring Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup by the Texas General Land Office are in. Commissioner George P. Bush and his family participated in the cleanup at Mustang Island State Park where they were joined by 200+ volunteers in picking up more than 10,000 pounds of trash along 5 miles at that site alone. Coastwide 6,772 volunteers showed up at 28 locations to remove 156,699 pounds of trash from 146 miles of Texas coastline."Many Texas industries rely on a healthy coast to thrive," said Commissioner Bush. AUSTIN - Last week, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) partnered with the City of Corpus Christi and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to offer local coastal Texans the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) free of charge.
