General Land Office Awards $10 Million For Coastal Preservation Projects
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has awarded $10 million for projects across nine coastal counties through its Coastal Management Program (CMP) Grant Cycle 27.Twelve of these projects, approximating $2 million in federal funds, will improve the management of the state's coastal resources and ensure the long-term ecological and economic productivity of the coast using National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) funds. Debris Removal Commences on Bolivar Peninsula
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has begun work on a debris removal project along the Bolivar Peninsula. Hundreds of Volunteers Participate in Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup
Despite frigid temperatures, volunteers from across Texas partnered with the General Land Office (GLO) during the 2022 Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup held February 4-5. The event drew 307 volunteers who worked together to clean four locations across the Coastal Bend area and one on South Padre Island. Together, they removed a total of 6,334 pounds of trash across 14 miles of coastline. “We are grateful for the hundreds of Texans who bundled up and headed down to the coast to help keep Texas beaches pristine,” said Texas Land Commissioner George P. General Land Office Wraps Up Vessel Turn-In Program in Port Isabel
The Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Oil Spill Prevention and Response team wrapped up its first Port Isabel Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) which was held January 26-29. During this four-day event, the GLO, the City of Port Isabel, and several partner agencies collected 26 vessels measuring 399.8 feet in total. The team additionally disposed of two trailers and 30 gallons of fuel and oil. Read More
