Texas Land Commissioner Bush hails passage of Congressman Thornberry's bill to stop illegal federal land grab in its tracks

Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush applauded the passage of U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry's (R-Clarendon) H.R. 2130 by the U.S. House of Representatives today. The legislation, filed in conjunction with a Senate companion bill (S. 1153) by U.S. Sen. Commissioner Bush announces Texas General Land Office purchase of Woolworth, Crockett, and Palace buildings

Today George P. Bush, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, announced official acquisition of three of the historically significant buildings across the Alamo Plaza from the Alamo Complex: the Woolworth, Crockett, and Palace buildings. Combined the square footage of the properties is nearly 100,000 square feet (98,557 square feet), a portion of which resides within the original footprint of the Alamo Mission compound built in 1724. Chief Ranger statement in response to defacing incident, arrest at the Alamo

Today Chief of the Alamo Rangers, Mark Adkins, released the following statement in response to an incident of criminal vandalism resulting in an arrest at the Alamo:"On September 3, 2015, at approximately 4:40 p.m. an individual was observed by an Alamo Tour Guide inside the Alamo Church, in the room known as the Monks' Burial Room, desecrating the wall using a car key. An Alamo Tour Guide confronted the individual who attempted to flee the building, but was detained by Alamo Rangers until the San Antonio Police Department could arrive and take the individual into custody.
