Demonstration Provides First Look at Texas Disaster Information System
AUSTIN, Texas — In recognition of the start of the 2022 Hurricane Season, the Texas General Land Office (GLO), Texas A&M University’s (TAMU) Institute for a Disaster Resilient Texas (IDRT), and the University of Texas (UT) led an exclusive preview demonstration of the Texas Disaster Information System (TDIS) in San Antonio. City of Galveston awarded first Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program grant, application still open
Today Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved a $70,000 grant for the City of Galveston through the Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program (LHMPP). By updating an existing or developing a new local hazard mitigation plan, jurisdictions can access various federal funding sources for project development and implementation, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). Deadline to submit applications for the Hurricane Harvey Homeowner Assistance Programs in Houston and Harris County extended to 5 pm Dec. 31
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has extended the deadline to submit applications for the Homeowner Assistance Program (HAP) to 5 p.m. Dec. 31, 2021. All potential applicants must submit draft applications by the deadline to be considered for eligibility so long as funding is available. We encourage the community to remember that applications do not need to be fully complete to be submitted. Once application intake concludes, additional program resources will be dedicated to processing applicants for eligibility, through the permitting process and into construction. Read More
