The 2015 Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup takes place at 30 of Texas’ most popular tourist beaches. Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home Celebrates 10th Anniversary
On Saturday, June 27th, generations of veterans from the Rio Grande Valley gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Texas Veterans Land Board's (VLB) Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen. The McAllen home is named after U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez, who was killed in action in Vietnam. Sgt. Alamo Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit extended through May 31, 2015
SAN ANTONIO - Today Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush announced the wildly popular Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit has been extended through May 31st. Visitors have the opportunity to view firearms that helped settle the Texas frontier. This exciting exhibit contains historic firearms and artifacts on loan from the National Rifle Association and gracious Texas philanthropists such as Alamo Endowment Board member Red McCombs. In 1836, single-shot flintlock muskets, rifles, and pistols served as the primary firearms in the Battle of the Alamo. Read More
