Join Us For An Unaccompanied Veteran Burial At The Texas State Veterans Cemetery At Abilene

On Friday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. sharp, the Texas State Veterans Cemetery At Abilene will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial for U.S. Army Private Earnest McCloud. Born on September 20, 1945, Private McCloud served from July 1967 to May 1969. Private McCloud received the Purple Heart Medal with three Oak Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Private McCloud is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial. Commissioner Buckingham Announces Derelict Vessel Turn-In Event: Orange County

Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Orange County to provide the residents of Orange County with a free event to dispose of inoperable vessels. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) will take place April 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 29 from 10 am to 6 pm. During the multi-day turn-in event, residents may bring their derelict or inoperable boats to the designated drop-off location to be verified by the GLO and TPWD for eligibility. Commissioner Buckingham Announces Veterans Land Board’s Increase of Home Loan Amount to $726,200

Commissioner Buckingham Announces VA Grant of $9.5 Million to Establish a New Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Lubbock

AUSTIN—Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) plans to award the Texas General Land Office (GLO) a grant totaling up to $9.5 million for the establishment of a new Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas. The grant will be used to establish the cemetery including pre-placed crypts, columbarium niches, in ground cremated remain plots, irrigation, grading, drainage, landscaping, roads, administration buildings, maintenance yard, committal shelter and supporting infrastructure.
