Summary
The primary task is the development and implementation of Water Quality Management Plans (WQMPs) within the boundary of Orange County, Adams Bayou Tidal, Big Cow Bayou and subwatersheds, currently on the 303(d) list. This provided agriculture producers who seek assistance the opportunity to comply with state water quality laws through a voluntary, incentive-based approach. Technical and financial assistance enabled producers to implement various best management practices that address erosion, sediment control, nutrient management and irrigation water management. Best management practices include irrigation land leveling, nutrient management, pasture planting, brush management, prescribed grazing systems, wetland creation and wetland wildlife habitat management.Basics
