Advancement of Senate Bill 503 - Trinity Bay SWCD

Summary

This project is applicable only to agriculture lands within the boundary of Chambers County and within the watersheds of Trinity Bay, East Bay,and Cedar Bayou Tidal, and Cedar Bayou above Tidal. The primary task is the development and implementation of Water Quality Management Plans (WQMPs) within these impaired watersheds.  This provided agriculture producers who seek assistance the opportunity to comply with state water quality laws through a voluntary, incentive-based approach.   Technical and financial assistance enable producers to implement various best management practices that address erosion, sediment control, nutrient management and irrigation water management.  Best management practices include irrigation land leveling, nutrient management, pasture planting, brush management, prescribed grazing systems, wetland creation and wetland wildlife habitat management.
