Project Description
Cameron County seeks to continue its partnership with the Texas General Land Office and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to nourish the beach at Isla Blanca Park further. The proposed project area spans approximately 4,858 linear feet. The park has experienced significant erosion, particularly following Hurricane Harvey and the exceptionally active 2020 hurricane season. This erosion now poses an immediate threat to park infrastructure and facilities. The requested beach nourishment efforts would help stabilize and protect high-traffic areas, including the Lermas Pavilion, Lerma's Pavilion parking lot, Sandpipers Pavilion parking lot, Sandpipers Beachfront Pavilion the beach in front of the Beach Waterpark. This project will nourish approximately 1,500 linear feet of shoreline.
