Summary
The report is a comprehensive document that assesses the technical, fiscal, and policy implications of shoreline change and beach management in Cameron County. Components of the report include an effort to characterize the dynamic of sand budget and changing sea level as it relates to movement of the beach and dune system on a multi-decade time scale. The benefits and consequences of alternative beachfront development practices from the perspectives of property owners, local government, and other public and private stakeholders are also discussed. The results of the report were presented to local decision makers and stakeholders in a series of workshops held in February 2013.
