Galveston Bay Foundation Oyster Shell Recycling Program

Summary

Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) will expand and enhance the GBF Oyster Shell Recycling Program. GBF proposes to implement the findings evaluated from analyzing new gardening techniques studied in Cycles 22 & 23 to increase the efficiency of spat recruitment and continue to assess the need for Volunteer Reef Monitoring to annually follow the progress after gardening. GBF proposes to use Cycle 24 funds to obtain new equipment (stronger truck) that can haul more weight and be retrofitted. The equipment purchase will help expand the project into Houston and/or along the current oyster shell recycling route.
