Jones Bay Oystercatcher Habitat Restoration

Summary

To counteract the decline of oyster habitats in Jones Bay, the Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) will restore up to 4 oyster habitat sites. Each site will involve the enhancement of a remnant island to create areas of higher elevations to allow for successful nesting of oystercatchers. In addition, the enhancement and/or creation of up to 1-acre of oyster reef complex will be conducted adjacent to each island to provide foraging habitat for nesting oystercatchers and their young.
