Monitoring and Modeling of Nonpoint Source Pollution in Oso Creek and Bay

Project Description

Project will (i) conduct stormwater monitoring at a set of selected outfalls for flow, sediment, nutrients, and fecal indicator bacteria, using a combination of advanced wireless sensors, automatic sampler, and satellite remote sensing; (ii) develop and calibrate a coupled hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling system to generate the estimates of event mean concentrations of the targeted pollutants across multiple wet and dry periods, providing critical information for evaluating TMDLs and BMPs for pollution load reductions; (iii) establish an interactive mapping portal using the state-of-the-art WebGIS techniques for supporting decision-making processes and raising public awareness of coastal water quality and stormwater management.
