Homeowner Reimbursement Program Has Successfully Concluded
The GLO allocated $100 million in Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) to reimburse homeowners for up to $50,000 in out-of-pocket expenses for eligible repairs to their Hurricane Harvey damaged home.
The HRP program was completed in record time having approved a total of 2,962 applicants for $85,991,690
In January 2021, the Texas General Land Office approved the final reimbursements for eligible homeowners and completed its Homeowner Reimbursement Program (HRP). The program's efficiency yielded an additional $3 million in costs savings, which enabled the program to provide reimbursements for all applicants eligible under rules for the available CDBG-DR funding.

Homeowner Reimbursement Program Milestone
The GLO successfully completed the state of Texas' first ever disaster recovery reimbursement program.
Resident of the following counties were eligible to apply:
Aransas, Austin, Bastrop, Bee, Brazoria, Burleson, Caldwell, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Comal, DeWitt, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Grimes, Guadalupe, Hardin, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Lavaca, Lee, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Milam, Montgomery, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Polk, Refugio, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Tyler, Victoria, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.
Residents of the City of Houston and Harris County were not eligible for this program. They will have local programs available for homeowners.
The City of Houston and Harris County were each given a direct allocation of CDBG-DR funds by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide local programs available for homeowners.
All activities under this program were conducted according to the GLO’s Housing Guidelines which outline the limitations for repairs, environmental regulations, and other rules that the GLO must follow in administering this program.
