On Friday, October 21st, 2022, the Fort Worth community is invited to join
Texas Land Commissioner and Chairman of the Veterans Land Board George P. Bush
for the soft opening of the new Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home. The opening ceremony will be held at 2200 Joe B. Rushing Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76119 at 10:30 a.m. The community is encouraged to attend.
The new Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth is named after the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American combat flying support program in the United States Armed Forces. These men served during World War II and their incredible legacy spanned over 1,500 missions across North Africa and Europe, where they received more than 150 Distinguished Flying Cross awards, 60 Purple Hearts, the Congressional Gold Medal, and more. Despite the challenges they faced, these heroes went above and beyond the call of duty in service to their country. We name this home in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen to commemorate the heroism and selfless devotion of these unwavering patriots.
Guests are invited to park in Parking Lot D of the Tarrant County Resource Connection Workforce Center. A shuttle will be available to transport guests to the opening. Following the ceremony, please join us for food and refreshments.

Texas State Veterans Homes provide affordable, long-term care for Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents across the state. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs subsidizes a generous amount of a Veteran's cost to reside in a Veterans Land Board (VLB) Texas State Veterans Home which allows for daily out-of-pocket rates, including medication, to be well below average for Veterans. As with all VLB programs, Texas State Veterans Homes are self-supporting and cost Texas taxpayers virtually nothing.
