Summary
Implementation of CCTC began in January 2021 (Years 1 and 2 completed) with an on-going Project of Special Merit that began in 2022 (Years 3 and 4). CCTC’s Project Team is defined as the Grantee and its Sub-grantee’s, collectively. Sub-grantees include Texas A&M- AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife), Texas Sea Grant, and Texas State University Meadows Center for Water and the Environment (TX State). The Project Team will continue working with coastal communities to achieve their economic, ecological and public health goals by assisting in the development and implementation of comprehensive approaches and best practices for stormwater and floodplain planning and management, local/regional policy development and adoption, on-site sewage facilities (OSSF) maintenance and funding strategies, and environmental outreach and education to support the adoption of the Texas Coastal NPS Program. The outcome of this project is to work with coastal communities to mitigate the ecological and economical loss from environmental hazards. Effective delivery of the Texas Coastal NPS Program initiative will build more resilient communities.
The Clean Coast Texas Collaborative Years 5 & 6 will (1) establish an “Upper Coast Hub” led by AgriLife through the Texas Community Watershed Partners (TCWP) and a “Lower Coast Hub” led by the Grantee to engage with communities across the coast; (2) expand upon current engagement with four new partnering communities; (3) engage and coordinate with partnering communities, GLO, and engineer subcontractors procured through the GLO on the site selection, planning, engineering design, permitting, and construction implementation phases of four stormwater infrastructure projects (retrofits); (4) conduct community engagement, education, and capacity building through technical workshops, trainings, public meetings, and volunteer events, development of grant applications; and (5) pursue Sustainable Stormwater Manual (SSM) adoption.
