Nearshore Circulation and Sediment Dynamics of the Upper Texas Coast

Summary

This project will characterize the nearshore wave and current conditions in representative summer and winter seasons in Region 1 (Orange, Jefferson, Chambers, Harris, Galveston and Brazoria counties) along the Texas Gulf of Mexico coast by gathering field measured hydrodynamic data using fixed as well as vessel-mounted instrument setups. The analysis of the data collected will be carried out to investigate the seasonal variability in the cross-shore distribution of both longshore currents and longshore sediment transport in the littoral zone.
