Summary
This project aims to document distribution and abundance of tar deposits on non-manicured sections of Mustang Island Gulf beaches, compare data collected by human observers with alerts from an Oil Detection Canine (ODC), develop a canine Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) field manual, design and develop an application to document tar deposits and "false positive" observations during spill surveys, and develop canine SCAT courses with field exercises for responders and local canine handlers.
