West Bay Living Shorelines and Habitat Restoration

Summary

In an effort to expand upon more than 20 years of habitat restoration efforts in West Galveston Bay, the
Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) proposes to protect, enhance, and restore up 145 acres of estuarine
habitat in West Galveston Bay. The proposed restoration will result in two living shorelines; one along
GBF’s Sweetwater Preserve and the other adjacent to Maggie’s Cove.
