Historical Shoreline Movement on the Upper Texas Gulf Coast

Summary

The Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin (UT-BEG) will update rates of shoreline movement, characterize shoreline types, and assess vulnerability to sea-level change along bay shorelines within the Galveston Bay system. UT-BEG will combine detailed topographic data and analysis of past shoreline positions to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of bay shoreline morphology, current and historical shoreline change, factors controlling past and future shoreline change, and susceptibility to natural and human causes of shoreline change.
