Galveston Beneficial Dredge- Babe's Beach Re-Nourishment Project

Summary

The Galveston Park Board of Trustees and The Texas General Land Office CEPRA program are conducting a beach nourishment project with beneficial use of dredged material (BUDM) at Babe’s Beach.  The GLO and the Park Board are conferring with the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to ensure that approximately 500,000 cubic yards of beach quality sand is to be placed on Babe’s Beach (west of 61 st street). The material is being taken from the USACE maintenance of the Galveston Channel and Houston Ship Channel.  A beach nourishment event will be completed in 2021 and 2023.
