Causeway Rookery Island Habitat Protection, Nueces Bay

Summary

The project includes engineering and design for a structure designed to protect the east side of Causeway Island from wind and wave erosion and will also trap and secure sediment from future dredge placement events. It is anticipated that the structure will be a minimum of 1,000 feet in length and positioned to protect the existing rookery habitat. This project will also include submitting an application for a U.S. Army Corps of Engineering Permit for the construction of the protection structure.
