Indian Point Shoreline Stabilization & Habitat Protection

Summary

Indian Point Peninsula supports the section of U.S. Highway 181 that crosses Nueces Bay, between the cities of Corpus Christi and Portland.  The Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program has documented the loss of saltmarsh due to construction of the highway and subsequent erosion since the 1940s.  This project will protect existing marsh habitat and public infrastructure through the construction of a graded rip riprap revetment and offshore breakwater.
