Summary
The objective of this project is to reduce the rate of shoreline erosion and loss of the existing beach ridge to protect the fresh to brackish water marshes of the McFaddin NWR from the increasing frequency of salt water inundation from the Gulf of Mexico. This will be accomplished by restoring remnant beach ridge elevations along approximately 11 miles of shoreline by mechanically placing clay and topped with sand. The restored beach ridge will then be planted with local native vegetation acquired from a commercial distributor or cultivated from cuttings of local vegetation.
