Measurement & Characterization of Bay Shoreline Changes

Summary

The overall goal of this project is to improve the management, protection, and restoration of bay systems in Texas through acquiring new, research-grade airborne topographic lidar data of the bay shorelines, determining shoreline position and morphology, and quantitatively analyzing historical shoreline changes and their causes for three bay systems. From the data, the shoreline will be extracted for the purpose of shoreline change analysis. In addition to providing a shoreline, the topographic lidar dataset will be useful for mapping and managing coastal wetlands that fall within the lidar swath.
