Treasure Island Revetment Evaluation

Summary

This project included a condition assessment and coastal engineering analysis on a revetment structure constructed along a segment of Gulf shoreline adjacent to the San Luis Pass fishing pier at Treasure Island. An assessment of the shoreline at the connection point of the fishing pier access ramp was performed to determine the cause(s) of erosion and the stability of the access ramp at the connection point. The condition of the shoreline was evaluated based on end effects of the revetment structure and erosion caused by high tides and storm activity. The project also focused on developing alternatives for a beach nourishment project in the vicinity of the revetment and fishing pier area to widen the beach and provide a buffer to reduce storm impacts to the existing shoreline.
