Summary
As part of the revitalization and restoration of the waterfront, a small park was created at the location of the Old Fort San Jacinto and at the end of the seawall, to be named San Jacinto Park. The City of Galveston revitalize the area by restoring and beautifying existing historic structures including the Old Fort San Jacinto gun abutment and the Seawall. The safety barricades and speed bumps on the seawall were replaced, indigenous trees were planted, and to educate the public, historic markers were placed at the location of the Old Fort and Seawall. Signs were posted pertaining to the waterfowl and other birds at the site as part of the Great Texas Birding Trail.
